Our team has experience building, installing, and maintaining many different types of pools. Here are some of the most common types of pool systems and parts to consider when deciding on your own style and design:
CHLORINE SYSTEMS
A classic pool sanitation method, the chlorinated pool system has been around for a long time. Once chlorine is added to the water, it can work effectively for an extended period of time. It comes in many forms, and depending on your equipment you could use granules, tablets, liquid, or even chlorine in a gas form.
SALTWATER SYSTEMS
Saltwater pool systems have been around since the 80’s but have gained a lot of popularity over the years. The water can be softer on the skin and doesn’t cause eye irritation. Plus, saltwater or saline pools come with a system that creates its own chlorine for water sanitation.
PUMPS
Every pool system will need a good pump in order to circulate water for the filtration process. When it comes to choosing a pump for your own pool, keep in mind that energy efficiency is key for keeping the extra electric costs of a pool system down. Newer pumps and variable speed motors have advanced energy efficiency that can help you save on energy bills.
CARTRIDGE FILTER
This type of filter utilizes a fabric material to filter out water impurities as it passes through the cartridge. With minimal maintenance, these filters are low-budget and easy to care for without much of a fuss. Simply hose them off regularly during peak swimming seasons, plus, they don’t have any chemicals!
DIATOMACEOUS EARTH FILTERS
These are a more expensive type of filter that requires specific maintenance. Made of fossilized plankton, diatomaceous earth filters require cleaning that includes backwashing your pool. It’s also important to note that these filters produce waste that needs to be disposed of carefully depending on your area and environmental codes.
SAND FILTERS
Sand filters are usually the cheapest type of pool filter you can find but usually make up for the low cost with extra water usage. This filter also requires backwashing your pool to remove any impurities, which can add to your water bill.
HEATING SYSTEMS
Sometimes the key to ultimate relaxation is knowing your pool is at the perfect temperature for you! There are a few different styles of pool heaters to choose from, and it depends on your backyard and personal preferences. Solar heaters are available as a lower cost option, but a more popular choice is a traditional heat pump. These days pool heaters can be incredibly energy efficient!
